Which Dubai Nationals are Making a Name on the WSOP Circuit?

In the past couple of years, several global regions have experienced rapid growth and development within the poker industry and, in doing so, have produced a number of poker pros that have gone on to achieve great success at recent World Series of Poker tournaments. It may not necessarily lead the pack as of yet when it comes to poker on a global scale but if you are wondering which Dubai nationals appear to be making a name for themselves on the WSOP circuit, continue reading to familiarise yourself with the region’s current up-and-coming professional poker players.

Shams Ahmad

It can be difficult to determine which Dubai nationals have participated in the World Series of Poker due to the region’s uncertain rules, regulations, and laws surrounding gambling but when it comes to the country’s all-time money list, Shams Ahmad leads the pack with total live earnings of $207,083 thus far. In addition, he was also present at this year’s World Series of Poker tournament in Rozvadov and has achieved a career-best live cash of $168,139. It, therefore, comes as no surprise that he is considered to be one of the greatest, and most successful, professional poker players to emerge from Dubai in recent years and is poised to continue climbing the ranks and, in doing so, putting his country on the map.

Iraj Parvizi

If you are familiar with the professional poker playing scene in Dubai or just tend to keep up to date with the latest happenings at the World Series of Poker on the massive GGPoker platform, you are probably aware of Iraj Parvizi and his various career achievements so far. It was also at this year’s World Series of Poker tournament in Rozvadov where he made a name for himself and, in the time since, has landed himself a second-place spot in the region’s all-time money list by falling closely behind Shams Ahmad with total live earnings of $194,194 reported to date. In addition, he also currently ranks 12,172nd in the all-time money list and 68,870th in the Global Poker Index as a result of his skills on the table.

Mounir Habib

If you followed along with the European Poker Tour in 2018, you may remember Mounir Habib completing a successful run and, in the process, walking away with two additional trophies under his belt. It is the past couple of years, however, when the up-and-coming professional poker player has really made waves in the industry as major poker tournaments have taken off in his home region and allowed him to compete on a global scale. This has led to him achieving total live earnings of $87,244 as well as a best live cash of $50,936 throughout the course of his professional poker playing career so far.

Joseph Haddad

In the wider world of professional poker, Joseph Haddad has become something of a familiar face to hail from Dubai with total live earnings of $48,035 and a best live cash of $48,035 as a result of his participation in both minor and major tournaments, including the World Series of Poker tournament in Rozvadov earlier this year. In addition, he also achieved first place in the $1,000 and 100 No-Limit Hold ‘Em Bounty 8-Max event during the Merit Poker Tour in 2017.
