Avid golfers have one more event lined up to note down in their diaries, the must visit Dubai Desert Classic annual professional golf tournament to be held from February 7, 2011 - February 13, 2011. The event enjoys a rich history of being the first European Tour event to be staged in the Middle East. Major champions like Tiger Woods are a part of this event featuring at least five times since 2001. In fact, he is one of the few ones to record multiple victories after Els record of three victories and nine top threes.

While Mark O’Meara is the oldest winner at 47 years and 54 days, Rory McIlroy at 19 years and 273 days become the youngest player to win the Dubai Desert Classic in 2009.

The 2009 Dubai Desert Classic was celebrated with an abundance of festivities as it marked the 20th anniversary of the event. The main highlight was the conglomeration of past winners of European Tour events and those who competed in the event.

This year, the scale of the event will reach to a new high as along with Omgea, Dubai Duty Free the name synonymous with Dubai World Cup, ATP and WTA tennis tournaments has extended its ties to sponsor the event.

Dubai Desert Classic will be held at Emirates Golf Club where some of the biggest stars in the golf world will vie for the prize money of $2.5 million.
