Dubai's Three Bucket List Golf Courses
Dubai is now one of the world’s premier golfing destinations with many world-class courses catering to locals as well as expats. Indeed, the world’s most talented golf course designers have all played their part in turning Dubai into one of the most sought after golfing destinations in not only the Middle East but also the world.
Here are the three courses in the region that should be on every golfer’s bucket list.
Emirates Golf Club, Majlis Course
The Majlis Course at the Emirates Golf Club is their signature course and one that the best in the world play in the month of January each year for the Dubai Desert Classic. Unlike most top-end courses in Dubai, the Majlis isn’t particularly long at just 7,100 yards, which worked to 2019 champion Bryson DeChambeau's favour, who won the Dubai Desert Classic at a canter. No course in the world is long enough for the big-hitting DeChambeau, that's probably why William Hill sports betting odds price him as one of the favourites to win the Masters at Augusta National next year.

Despite the fact that the Majlis may be relatively short, it turns out to be one of its best features. This is primarily because it caters to golfers of any ability and lets them enjoy a fabulous day out on a pristine world-renowned track.
The Els Club
Measuring 7,500 yards, The Ernie Els design is an absolute brute off the back tees, and the ‘links in the desert’ setup make the Els Club one of the most memorable courses in the world. The undulating fairways and greens give you the distinct feeling that you are in Scotland, only for you to look up from your putt and see a sand dune in the distance.
Another telling feature of this course is the fresh prevailing winds off the Persian Gulf that will inevitably come into play at some stage over the duration of a round. They may bring with them the added difficulty of hitting it straight, but that is all forgotten when a golfer takes a moment to breathe it all in and remember they are in paradise.
Jumeirah Golf Estate, Earth Course
Any golfing enthusiast on a short break to Dubai has to get themselves down to Jumeirah Golf Estate to play the Earth course. This iconic course is where the Race to Dubai tournament culminates at the end of the season with the playing of the DP Tour World Championship. Greg Norman did everything in his power to make this one of the most difficult layouts to play in the Middle East. At 7,700 yards, it really is not for the faint of heart.
Part of its charm is that it is so incredibly difficult. For the average golfer, the appeal to play it comes from retracing the steps of the world's best who never fail to deliver an enthralling performance year-on-year.

You won’t shoot a record round, but you will be fortunate enough to walk on the hallowed turf of one of the most immaculate courses in the world.
