It's a perfect time to visit Dubai, during the holy month of Ramadan - there are many cultural offerings and the city hosts unique events to celebrate the spirit of charity and togetherness.

Ramadan is a time for spiritual self-reflection, ritual practice, and renewal for Muslims all over the globe. Dubai is quieter throughout Ramadan, and you can hear Muslims greet each other with phrases such as Ramadan Kareem or Ramadan Mubarak.

When is Ramadan in Dubai?

Ramadan commences and ends with the sighting of the new moon. In 2019, it is expected to tentatively start on May 6 and end on June 3. The dates are quite dependent on the moon sighting and could vary by a day or so.

Treat Yourself with Shopping

It's Ramadan, and the best part is that malls in Dubai would remain open longer. It is also a perfect time to treat yourself with some great discounts. The night markets and souks are good to check out, and you can visit Madina Mall in Muhaisnah, which offers everything from accessories, to perfume, apparel and more.

Enjoy Movies

Cinema Akil is offering a unique way to break your fast this Ramadan. The cinema experience is expected to start from May 10 and would continue throughout Ramadan. Visit Cinema Akil and Project Chaiwala (the in-house eatery) to enjoy South Asian cuisine and the screening of award-winning films.

Visit Theme Parks

Visit the city's best theme parks during this Ramadan. Many of the theme parks in Dubai like Legoland will be having Ramadan offers and there would be fun things to do.

Sample Iftar or Suhoor

The two meals that Muslims partake in during the Holy Month are Suhoor (the meal before sunrise) and Iftar (the meal after sunset). The hotels and restaurants across the city would host Suhoors and Iftars, and you must sample the meals for a splendid culinary experience.

Watch the Firing of the Cannon

Enjoy an old tradition of the firing of the cannon at sunset, which signifies the time to break the fast at hotspots like Mina Al Salam, Burj Khalifa and City Walk.
