The word Ramadan is derived from the Arabic root “ramida” or “ar-ramad,” which signifies scorching heat or dryness. Ramadan is the 9th month of the lunar Islamic calendar.

The festival is celebrated for around 29 to 30 days depending on the visual sightings of the crescent moon. The month of Ramadan is the Muslim community follows fasting from sunrise to sunset, a lot of charity is done and extra prayers also chanted.
